The Matołek Billy Goat European Tale Centre in Pacanów, Poland consists of a library with a reading room and a bookshop, a cinema and a theatre room. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden with a summer house. There is also an amphitheatre by the pond.
Facades and windows of the European Tale Center for have been made with the use of Pilkington Insulight™ Sun insulated glass units made of toughened Pilkington Solar-E™ solar control glass with low-emissivity properties and Pilkington Optilam™ Therm S3 laminated glass with low-e coating.
The project uses toughened Pilkington Solar-E™ in two thicknesses: 6 mm and 8 mm. Glass of greater thickness and stiffness was used in window glazing in the most characteristic architectural element of the building, i.e. a circular form reminiscent of a mud pie. The choice of thicker glass for this architectural element was dictated by the slope of the glazing and the higher static requirements for glazing mounted "at an angle".
Pilkington Optilam™ Therm S3 safety glass (meeting the requirements of the P2A class) was selected due to the height of the glazing in facades, the need to provide the highest level of safety and high thermal insulation and to optimize the cost of facility use.
