The history of St. Victor's Cathedral in Xanten begins with the laying of the foundation stone in 1263. It was completed almost 300 years later. The cathedral significantly influences the Xanten skyline and is a real magnet for pilgrims and excursionists. Thanks to its many art treasures, such as altars and sculptures, it impressively tells its centuries-old history.
The cathedral was severely damaged during World War II. This year, 75 years after the end of the war, an interesting photo exhibition tells about the reconstruction works in the cathedral. Photos from the post-war period were shown on a Pilkington MirroView™ glass totem, which was placed inside the cathedral. In this way, visitors can embark on an impressive journey through time. The use of a modern totem in the cathedral was not accidental. The contrast of the historical surroundings with the latest technology makes it remain in the memory of each visitor.
