Ardlui Lodges - Loch Lomond

The Project

Built in the early 1800’s as the hunting residence of the Colquhoun family, the Ardlui Hotel is a beautiful tribute to its Scottish heritage and history, nestling as it does on a hillside by the loch. First opened as a hotel in 1886, the Ardlui Hotel Loch Lomond has evolved over the years, with east and west wings being built into the property before 1905.

The Squires family are now in their third generation of ownership of Ardlui, having bought the property in 1978.

Brian Squires, head of the family first came to Ardlui in 1959 at eleven years of age and has been living and working here ever since. He’s constantly striving to make Ardlui the best leisure destination on Loch Lomond, and his passion for his work knows no bounds!

The recently built lodges at Ardlui are perfectly positioned on the beautiful northern-most shores of Loch Lomond, adjacent to the Ardlui Hotel offering some of the most beautiful self-catering accommodation on the shores of Loch Lomond and are perfect for even the most discerning of guests.

The Ardlui Lodges, have been built with luxury in mind to offer secluded self catering accommodation. Constructed from premium red wood logs imported from Finland and finished to the highest standard, these self catering Lodges are everything one would expect from a beautiful Loch Lomond hideaway.

When it came to specifying the glazing for the lodges, it was important to ensure that the windows were energy-efficient preventing as much heat as possible from escaping via the glazing, whilst also providing  superior clarity, in order to take advantage of the stunning views.

Pilkington energiKare proved to be the ideal solution, with Pilkington Optiwhite as the outer pane of the insulating glass unit (IGU) and Pilkington K Glass S as the inner pane of the IGU. This combination of glass in an IGU offers optimum performance ensuring that less, heat escapes through the windows and by using an extra clear glass such Pilkington Optiwhite as the outer pane of glass, the required clarity could be achieved. This combination of  flass in the IGUs was also chosen to ensure that as much light as possible could enter the lodge as well as benefiting from the solar gain properties of Pilkington Optiwhite, allowing more heat from the sun to pass through the glazing.

Russell Gavin of Southside Windows was delighted to partner with Pilkington UK Limited in order to provide a solution for the client and comments: “In a demanding area of natural beauty Pilkington energiKarewas the ideal product to save energy and provide the client with peace of mind.
