Philadelphia’s subway network has made new efforts to allow a flood of natural light into the dark underground entrances. Perfectly located in front of Philadelphia’s City Hall, two massive glass entrances allow outstanding clarity and unrestricted views to the oldest municipal building in the United States.
This subway skylight incorporates the sleek design of Pilkington Optiwhite™ jumbo glass panes, for a building complete with transparency and clarity. The structure uses Pilkington Optiwhite™, a low iron glass with a very high light transmittance to ensure a more natural and brighter opening into the station. The new entrance is a stunning arc of glass specifically designed to meet certain aesthetic and performance purposes, which were easily obtained with the addition of Pilkington Optiwhite™.
