Art installation in the Austrian Parliament, Vienna, Austria

The Project
The Austrian Parliament Building in Vienna is one of the most important buildings in Austria. It houses the two chambers of the Austrian Parliament, which conducts their sessions there. The building is on the Ringstrasse boulevard in the first district Innere Stadt. After almost five years of renovation and modernisation, the building reopened on January 12, 2023.

Twelve new works of contemporary art were installed in the building, including the mirror panes by the artist Eva Schlegel. With a diameter of 140 centimetres, they hang from the ceiling in the vestibule at a height of 17 meters. The panes made of Pilkington Mirropane Optilam™ Chrome Plus are arranged in such a way that they reflect the details of the room.

The works of art by Eva Schlegel can also be admired in the winter garden of the rooftop restaurant, where a rotating mirror sculpture made of Pilkington Mirropane™ Chrome Plus T is located.

Pilkington Austria produced approximately 40 m² of heat strengthened laminated Pilkington Mirropane™ Chrome Plus mirrors for the vestibule and approximately 65 m² of toughened Pilkington Mirropane™ Chrome Plus T mirrors for the art installation in the winter garden.
