Galeria Siedlce, Siedlce, Poland

The Project
Galeria Siedlce is the first and largest modern shopping and recreation centre in Siedlce. It is located at the intersection of the city's main communication arteries. The investment consists of two above-ground floors with commercial and service premises, restaurants, a cinema and a fitness centre. The underground floor has a parking lot for 850 cars.

Galeria Siedlce meets the highest requirements of sustainable architecture, friendly to its users, visitors and the environment.

A bright façade with wooden elements and white and elegant interiors are the characteristic features of the facility. Glass, sandstone and façade construction wood are used in the facades.

For the southwest-facing main façade of the Gallery, the architects from Bulak Projekt studio specified innovative sun protection in the form of Pilkington Insulight™ Sun insulating glass units with integrated ScreenLine® blinds.

The blinds are hermetically closed between two panes of glass. They are controlled electrically by a computer connected to a light-intensity sensor. Appropriate positioning of the slats during the period of maximum sunlight allows for complete or partial covering of the glazing, limiting the transmittance of solar energy, and in winter, increasing the amount of passive solar energy heating the interior.

To achieve a high level of energy efficiency, in the other parts of windows and façades, Pilkington Insulight™ Sun solar control insulating glass units are used. These units are made of highly selective toughened solar control glass Pilkington Suncool™ 66/33 T. The glazing allows for high light transmittance, low solar energy transmittance and high thermal insulation.

The energy-saving glazing of Galeria Siedlce also ensures safety for users. Both panes of insulated glass units are made of safety or security glass. The outer pane is made of toughened solar control glass, with greater mechanical strength, and the inner pane is made of 8.8 mm or 12.8 mm thick Pilkington Optilam™ Clear laminated glass.

Galeria Siedlce received the "Best in urban space" award, in the "Top Commercial Investments in Urban Space" competition, in the category of commercial facilities.
