‘Stone’ bathroom, Showcase interior in a modernist house, Poland

The Project

Designing a small bathroom can present quite a challenge to designers. The 'Stone' bathroom is a perfect example of a skilfully arranged small space. The white walls visually enlarge the interior, and when combined with contrasting stone tiles, they give the bathroom a modern and elegant look.

The glass shower enclosure adds to the sense of spaciousness, making the bathroom appear larger and brighter, and the wall separating the bathing area is made of 8 mm thick Pilkington Optiwhite™ T extra clear toughened glass. Thanks to its low iron content, the glass is virtually free of the greenish tint that is typical of thicker panes. Its exceptional transparency and higher light transmission create the effect of a bright, optically enlarged interior. Toughening also increases the glass's mechanical strength, ensuring that it remains intact after impact or breaks safely into small, blunt fragments.

In addition, Pilkington Optiwhite™ glass is ideal for applying white enamel or patterns as it does not distort light colours. This advantage has been utilised in the bathroom shelf top under the tap, which is made of 6 mm thick Pilkington Optiwhite™ toughened glass coated with white enamel in RAL 9016. In addition to its aesthetic qualities, the glass top is highly practical. The glass surface protects the cabinet from water and prevents stains and discolouration caused by chemicals.
