Exchange Place - Edinburgh

The Project

Charles Henshaw have completed two major buildings in the new Exchange Place, including this six storey office development situated in the prime location of Edinburgh’s Central Business District. The curtain wall package was carried out to a fast track programme with a strong emphasis on logistical planning due to the project location and space restriction on site.

The form and use of traditional materials within a contemporary framework allows the building to respond to both the tenement scale of traditional Edinburgh and the varied architecture of the commercial quarter.

Glass Specifications

6 mm toughened Pilkington Spandrel Glass (Black) with 75 mm insulation in addition to Pilkington Insulating Glass Units in the following constructions:

Pilkington Insulight™ Sun - consisting of: 8.8 mm Laminated Pilkington Suncool Optilam™ 70/40 combined with a pane of 10 mm Toughened and Heatsoaked Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear THS.
Pilkington Insulight™ Sun - consisting of: 10.8 Laminated Pilkington Suncool Optilam™ 70/40 combined with  a pane of 6 mm Toughened and Heatsoaked Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear THS with graduated screen print in standard white.
Pilkington Insulight™ Protect - consisting of: 6.4 mm Laminated  Pilkington Optilam™ I Blue (utilising a medium blue pvb interlayer) with 10 mm Toughened and Heatsoaked Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear THS
