Helen DeVos Children's Hospital

The Project
At nearly four times the size of its predecessor, the new 14 story state-of-the-art Helen DeVos Children’s hospital will serve more than one million children throughout Michigan. The new hospital includes a tower shaped like the prow of a ship that consists of over 100,000 square feet of Pilkington Arctic Blue™, with a Viracon coating. The tower rises high above a podium that includes the use of aluminum plate, Pilkington Activ™ Blue, Pilkington Activ™ Clear,  Pilkington Eclipse Advantage™ Arctic Blue and Pilkington Eclipse Advantage™ EverGreen that create a welcoming scene of waves. The fabricator for this project was Thompson IG, while the glazing contractor for the podium was Vos Glass of Grand Rapids, Michigan and the glazing contractor for the tower was Architectural Glass & Metal (AGM) also out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
