West Midtown Ferry Terminal

The Project
W&W Glass worked closely with a design team to create two distinct glazing systems for this Ferry Terminal. Facing the Hudson River, is a Pilkington Planar™ long span glass fin and counterbalanced rod supported facade with Low-e coating insulated units. The vestibules are made of arching tubular steel sections with insulated laminated glass panels mounted on “ Nexus” Castings and articulated Pilkington Planar™ 902 fittings. Ceramic frit and Low-e coating were used for solar control in the space. The interior elevator shaft is enclosed in fully fritted monolithic Pilkington Optiwhite™ glass mounted onto the elevator rails with Pilkington Planar™ 901 fittings. The Pilkington Planar™ System was used to create a warm friendly atmosphere in a very large space.
