Gates Hall

The Project

Cornell University located in Ithaca, New York is known for their academic and collegiate achievements. While providing many undergraduate and graduate programs, Cornell’s intentions have always been to teach and make contributions all the different fields of study. As a result, they have upgraded their campus with the installation of a new building for the Computing Science and Information Science department, known as Gates Hall.

The new Bill and Melinda Gates Hall will be home for many new and returning students. This hall incorporates the sleek design of stainless steel panels with an innovative spin of digitally printed glass, for a building complete with outstanding visual clarity and views. Cornell used Pilkington Optiwhite™ a low iron glass with a very high light transmittance to take this unique building to the next level. The new hall is a two layer façade specifically designed to meet certain aesthetic and performance purposes, which were easily obtained through the integration of Pilkington Optiwhite™.
