The Trade Center in Halmstad, Sweden, is one of the city's most recognisable landmarks.
Located next to Halmstad University on the southern approach to the city (Laholmsvägen), the tower was completed in the early 1990s and has become a symbol of the city's modern development and growing academic community. Rising 73.5 metres, the building contains 22–24 storeys, making it one of the tallest in Halmstad.
Designed by Arkitektura, a local architectural firm based in Halmstad, the high-rise office tower has a distinctive form and a highly glazed exterior, giving it a strong visual presence on the Halmstad skyline. Its modern appearance reflected the city's and the newly established university district's architectural ambitions during the period of its construction.
The façade incorporates Pilkington Suncool™ Silver 50/30, a high-performance solar control glass with high light reflection, which is designed to reduce solar heat gain while maintaining good levels of daylight transmission and a striking external appearance. This helps to improve occupant comfort and energy performance by limiting excessive solar load without compromising the building's transparent, contemporary aesthetic.
