The exhibition “Venus. Nature, shadow and beauty”, Palazzo Te, Milan, Italy

The Project
The exhibition “Venus. Nature, shadow and beauty” took place at Palazzo Te in Mantua from September 12 to December 12, 2021. Studio Lissoni & Partners has masterfully designed the exhibition itinerary.

Pilkington Italia supported the exhibition as a technical sponsor, providing Pilkington OptiView™ Protect OW – a glass of excellent performance, for the enhancement of the following artistic artefacts:

- a 17th century bronze statuette, replica of a Greek Venus from the Classical period,
- Imperial Roman coins, depicting Venus Genetrix,
- a statue of crouching Aphrodite, from the 2nd century, of Roman art,
- Venus blindfolding Cupid, by Titian,
- Venus, Cupid and Mars, by Guercino,
- Tribute to Venus, oil on copper by Louis de Caullery.

Pilkington OptiView™ Protect OW is a laminated safety glass ideal for the protection of works of art. The low iron content of the glass substrate and minimal light reflection allows undisturbed observation of these unique masterpieces, as if they were unprotected by any glass.

The result is a clear vision in the total absence of chromatic alterations or annoying reflections typical for traditional clear float glass. The enjoyment of the artistic heritage is incredibly enhanced.

The vibrancy of the colour and the perfection of the details are made unchanged thanks to the extra-clear substrate and the double anti-reflection coating of Pilkington OptiView™ Protect OW.

The glass was specified by studio Lissoni & Partners, as it is able to prevent damage from vandalism. Pilkington OptiView™ Protect OW 10,8 is in fact classified P2A according to the European harmonized standard EN 356, which characterizes the resistance of the glass to manual attack, vandalism or break-in attempts.
