OMG Summer Houses, Kościelisko, Poland

The Project
OMG summer houses are located in Kościelisko, on the southern and sunny slope of Butorowy Wierch, overlooking the panorama of the Tatra Mountains. The entire project, which is still under construction, comprises ten houses. Each of them is approximately 100 m² in size, and 80 m² of glazing provides the mountain view. So far, four houses have been built.

The architects from the Karpiel & Steindel s.c. studio were inspired by the modest shepherd's huts in the mountain pasture. Their two-storey blocks refer to mountain stones with sharp edges. The cuts in the elevations reveal the interiors of the buildings, freeing viewing openings, which then turn into spacious balconies.

Large glazing provides a spectacular opening to the mountains and breath-taking views. A characteristic element of the design is a non-standard shape of the roof, cut into the seam, which gives the houses an original meaning.

The project is a contemporary and dynamic interpretation of the traditional architecture of the village in the Podhale area.

This clash of tradition and modernity is continued in the unique style of interior design, using natural materials, modern design and luxurious details. The interiors are spacious, yet cosy, bright and comfortable.

The buildings are glazed with toughened Pilkington Suncool™ 70/35 high performance solar control glass. The glass offers high light transmittance, high reduction of solar energy transmittance and the outstanding thermal insulation. Thanks to this, the rooms are well lit with natural daylight, and at the same time they do not overheat and remain cool on hot days. During the colder months, thanks to low-emissivity properties Pilkington Suncool™ glass helps to retain heat from radiators and other heat sources in the room, providing users with a warm and comfortable interior.
