Vikenco is a recognized supplier of seafood to the markets of Norway, Europe, the USA and the Far East. The company decided to modernize its harvesting and processing facility on Rindarøya in Aukra, central Norway, and the new facility was completed in early 2021.
The new 13,600 sqm factory includes a freezer, a fully automated box, a salmon filleting facility, warehouse, loading areas and an office department.
The external walls of the building are made of concrete and the windows are glazed with Pilkington Insulight™ Sun solar control insulating glass units.
6 mm Pilkington Suncool™ Silver 50/30 high performance solar control glass has been used as an outer pane of the IGU and an inner pane has been made of 4 mm Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear or Pilkington Optilam™ Clear 8,8 for improved safety. For better thermal insulation warm edge spacer has been used and the unit cavity has been filled with argon.
Pilkington Suncool™ Silver 50/30 is a highly reflective silver in reflection solar control glass suitable for windows and facades where a highly reflective mirrored appearance from the outside is required. It offers high light transmittance, good solar control and low Ug-value of 1.0 W/m²K.
Brenne Entreprenør AS was appointed general contractor for the new building for Vikenco, while Straumsheim Glass & Fasade provided the glazing.
The new facility was built with the future in mind.
