Zealand Campus, Køge, Denmark

The Project
Zealand Institute of Business and Technology has built a new campus in Køge. The building looks a bit like a piece of layer cake. It has been designed by Jesper Thyge Brøgger Arkitektur & Design supported by Cubo Arkitekter.

Both the special qualities of the plot and the place are incorporated in the Zealand Campus. The wedge shape is reflected in the basic shape of the building as a piece of cake that points to the southeast, while the topography of the terrain is recognized in the terraced ground plan of the education building.

The project offers approx. 4,950 square meters of usable space spread over three levels.

The atrium of the building is a space with experiences and high ceilings. The atrium is equipped with a so-called learning staircase under a generous skylight and framed by an entertaining and acoustically constructive framing of oak mouldings with just the kind of wood as the unconditionally thematic in the building.

Glaseksperten A/S has, among other things, supplied 76 insulating glass units for the roof glazing made of Pilkington Suncool™ 70/35 high performance solar control glass. The glass allows flooding the interior with natural light, and at the same time reduces the transmittance of solar heat.

Several glass panes are over three meters long, and there are also insulating glass units with shapes specially cut from templates.

The new bright environment is open to students and administrative staff and provides a comfortable environment for study, work and meetings.
