The Giboire Group, historic real estate developer in the Grand Quest region, has offered itself a new showcase in the centre of Vannes by buying the walls of a local bank. The plan was to set up a new commercial and real estate development agency. After several months of renovation, this 275 m² office building opened its doors in early 2021.
The façade
Located at the corner of Thiers and Carnot streets, the building has an elegant wavy all-glass double skin façade, 200 meters from the port of Vannes, giving the impression of an extension of the waves of the Gulf of Morbihan towards the city centre.
The external skin of the façade has been made of Pilkington Optiwhite™ extra-clear glass. The glass has been bent and laminated by the Goude Glass Breton glass maker. The glass processor has demonstrated its know-how to manufacture 30 bent laminated glass panels (12 mm Pilkington Optiwhite™ + 6 layers of 0,38 mm PVB + 12 mm Pilkington Optiwhite™). Each glass panel measures 1600 x 3100 mm and weighs 300 kg.
The glass was installed by Goude Instal in a stainless-steel structure giving this glazed envelope a light and aesthetic appearance. The Pilkington Optiwhite™ extra-clear glass, even when very thick, allows optimal transparency and light transmission for the occupants of this real estate and commercial development agency.
