Ecological values and principles of sustainability were at the core of the Trivium Rhetoric office building project, designed by APRT Architects, in one of the most important office hubs in Turku, Finland.
The 10,000 square-metre Veritas Pension Insurance Company Headquarters needed to be adaptable for future occupational needs, energy efficient and environmentally friendly – a number of Pilkington glass products were used to provide the perfect solutions. The building’s minimal environmental footprint has since been recognised with a Breeam Excellent environmental certificate.
The Veritas building features a façade that changes its colour with the sunlight.
The windows on the first floor are made of triple insulating glass units with the use of Pilkington Suncool Optilam™ Q 60 8,8 as an outer pane and Pilkington Optilam™ Therm S1N 8,8, as an inner pane.
All the upper floors have openable triple glazed wood-aluminium windows made of 6 mm Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear as an outer pane 150 mm air space and double insulating glass unit made of 4 mm Pilkington Suncool™ 70/35 high performance solar control glass and 4 mm Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear or Pilkington Optilam™ 8,8 (depending on the floor).
A total of approximately 250 m² of solar control glass has been used on the façade.
