Odra Tower, Wrocław, Poland

The Project
Odra Tower is a residential building in the Old Town district of Wrocław. The Odra Tower stands out for its modern and elegant architecture, spacious interiors and comfort of use. A unique feature of the investment is not only its central location in the city, but also the idea of ensuring a peaceful and quiet environment for its residents.

The facility, designed by the MZ Walas Design and Investment Office, is 61 meters high and has 18 above-ground floors and one underground floor with 254 parking spaces. There are 243 apartments in the building, many of them with green terraces and comfortable balconies. There is also a green, quiet terrace on the building's patio. The residential part is located from the 3rd to the 17th floor. From the south-east side, the building is adjacent to the Podwale and Sikorskiego Streets, and from the north to the Odra River. The facility serves primarily a residential function, but there are service premises on the ground floor.

The Odra Tower design has a simple form of interpenetrating cuboid shapes. When preparing the project, the architects took into account both the comfort of the residents and the facility's fit into the architectural style of the area. The colour contrast of white and black emphasizes the spaciousness of the building. Glass and white bay windows intertwine on the black background of the tower. Glass vitrines of service premises cut off the ground floor from the side of Podwale Street and the boulevard.

The building uses Pilkington Insulight Activ™ double glazed units made of Pilkington Activ™ Clear self-cleaning glass. The dual-action coating on the glass, activated by daylight, breaks down organic pollutants. During rain, water washes away any released contaminants from the glass surface. Glass with such a coating dries faster, and after drying it is free from unsightly streaks. The use of Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning glass in the building reduces the window cleaning costs, i.e. the consumption of detergents and water, which contributes to reducing the maintenance costs of the high-rise building. Pilkington Optitherm™ S3 low-emissivity glass or Pilkington Optilam™ Therm S3 low-emissivity laminated glass was used for the inner pane of the insulating glass unit to provide thermal comfort, safety, and sound insulation. For large window and façade glazing, self-cleaning glass has been made of thicker toughened glass.

In glazed spandrel areas between the windows Pilkington Spandrel Glass Insulating Glass Units made of Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear T combined with Pilkington Enamelled Glass RAL 7009 were used.
