Lansingerland Town Hall, Bergschenhoek, The Netherlands

The Project
In 2007, the three municipalities of Berkel en Rodenrijs, Bleiswijk and Bergschenhoek merged to form the municipality of Lansingerland. As a result, they commissioned a new town hall.

The new Lasingerland Town Hall, designed by Hans van Heeswijk Architecten, consists of two parts: a public building and an office building. The public building is the main place where the public gathers. This building houses the offices of the city council and management staff.

The transparent administration building is surrounded by trees blossoming in spring. The central hall of the public building is flooded with light through fully glazed facades.

For this project, Pilkington Nederland supplied solar control insulated glass units and fire-resistant glazing. Pilkington Insulight™ Sun solar control insulated glass units were made of two types of high-performance solar control glass: Pilkington Suncool™ 50/25 and Pilkington Suncool™ 60/31.

For the fire-resistant glazing, Pilkington Pyrodur® 60-202 and Pilkington Pyrodur® 30-201 were used.

In addition, laminated insulating glass was supplied for the front façade at the entrance to the town hall with 1 or 2 digitally printed letters on each pane resulting in "COMMUNITY LANSINGERLAND".
