Harmony Office Center I is a class A+ office building, which was built in the greenest part of Warsaw's Mokotów district, right next to Pola Mokotowskie, in the central part of the most modern commercial and residential estate - Eko-Park.
The project was designed by architects from Grupa 5 Architekci office, who won an architectural competition organized by Kuryłowicz & Associates.
The office complex consists of three six-storey segments with an area of over 18,000 square metres. On the ground floor, there are office halls, a conference centre, restaurants, commercial and service space, and two-level garages in the basement.
Structurally glazed Pilkington Insulight™ Sun insulating glass units were used for the office building glazing. High-performance Pilkington Suncool™ 70/40 solar control glass was used on the ground floor, while Pilkington Solar-E™ glass was used on the glass façades.
Solar control glass provides excellent protection against the sun and, at the same time, outstanding thermal insulation. Thanks to this, the building tenants can feel comfortable.
Among other buildings of this type, the Harmony Office Center I complex is distinguished by the combination of elegant external stone cladding and glass façades with green courtyards.
To break the monotony of the facade irregular cubist bay windows were glued to the body of the building. Their opaque elements are made of Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear glass, enamelled with white enamel in RAL 9003.
The ground floor of the building was glazed with Pilkington Insulight™ Sun structural double-glazing units made of high-performance 8 mm Pilkington Suncool™ 70/40 glass combined with Pilkington Optilam™ 9.5 laminated glass. The glass ensures high light transmittance and hence, high transparency of the façade. It also provides excellent thermal insulation. Additionally, thanks to laminated glass, the P4A anti-burglary class was achieved for low-level glazing.
For the construction of structurally glued all-glass facades, Pilkington Insulight™ Sun insulating glass units made of 6 mm toughened Pilkington Solar-E™ glass and Pilkington Optilam™ Therm S3 8.8 laminated glass with a warm black frame were used. Such a configuration of insulated glass units allows for adequate protection against solar radiation and excellent thermal insulation.
Units of the same construction were also used for windows in traditional aluminium joinery. Among the standard windows on the façade, there are also narrow full-height windows decorated with an enamel ornament applied to the Pilkington Solar-E™ glass by screen-printing. These elements allow for greater shading of rooms.
The vertical divisions of the façade not only give the Harmony Office Center I a dignified appearance but also subtly distinguish the complex from residential buildings in which the windows are usually horizontally arranged.
The building received an award in the SARP 2008 Building of the Year competition.
