The Flow office building in the Houthavens district of Amsterdam, designed by MVSA architects, has a unique, diamond-shaped facade.
The design of The Flow building was inspired by its waterfront location. The building's sleek exterior takes cues from the angular shapes of yachts and motorboats. An uncommon choice, the building's black silhouette is bold yet sophisticated. Glossy glass panels are interspersed with matte black ribs, while aluminium composite panels provide crisp detailing. The building incorporates overhangs and terraces to provide shade and outdoor space, evoking a maritime atmosphere.
The building focuses on the well-being of its users. It is equipped with all possible facilities to make working as pleasant as possible, including extensive relaxation facilities such as a wellness and fitness room.
The building has six floors, a parking garage on the ground floor, and a restaurant with event space on the top floor. The intermediate floors are designed as office spaces with a terrace on each floor.
The facade sections connect to each other at different angles and the front slopes. It is a very special and inspiring building where a total of 1800 m² Pilkington Insulight™ Sun Triple made of Pilkington Suncool™ 60/31 high performance solar control glass has been applied.
The Flow has already won several awards. During the Real Estate Future Proof Awards, the building was named the smartest building of 2020, and The Flow has a BREEAM Excellent and a WELL CORE V2 Platinum certification.
