Terminal 2 of Vantaa Airport, Helsinki, Finland

The Project
The largest investment in Finavia Airport's history began in 2006 with the reconstruction and expansion of Helsinki Airport’s International Terminal 2. This expansion included the construction of a long-haul lounge and a new baggage handling centre. The design was created by Parviainen Architects. The first section of the international terminal’s expansion for long-haul flights was completed in August 2009.

Terminal 2 is a three-floor building, with the two lower floors dedicated to baggage handling. The top floor is reserved for public areas and is connected to the old terminal by two glass corridors. The glazing features Pilkington Suncool™ 50/25 high-performance solar control glass and Pilkington Optiphon™ sound-insulating laminated glass. This combination of glass products ensures acoustic and thermal comfort for passengers.
