Forum Karlín is a multifunctional venue for professional, social, and cultural events. It is located within a complex of office buildings in Karlín, a Prague district that has been an industrial area since the 19th century.
The building designed by Ricardo Bofill reflects the atmosphere of contemporary Karlín, where the industrial past meets the new life of modern office buildings.
The administrative building features a modern, multifunctional hall designed to meet the highest standards for event organisation. The project has a light façade and a suspension system that can support even the heaviest decorations and other scenic elements.
The façade is a double-skin façade that comprises an inner standard façade, a small space for LED lighting, and an outer skin made of toughened and heat-soaked Pilkington Profilit™ Opal K25/607 THS translucent channel glass. Holes have been drilled in the glass panels specifically for this project, to enable the pins used for fastening decorations to be mounted to the glass.
Thanks to the LED lighting, the façade changes colour in relation to the cultural events. In the evening, scenic lighting effect emphasises the building's cultural function, setting it apart from its daily administrative function when the lighting is turned off.
