The Portopiccolo development is an architectural gem that combines modernity with environmental respect.
This ambitious project in Sistiana is an ambitious project that has transformed a stone quarry into a prestigious location suitable for international tourism. It is a prototype of absolute value, catering for many current cultural trends, such as environmental protection, energy saving, and maximising living comfort, as well as providing many services required for modern urban living.
The development includes a five-star luxury hotel, a 15,000 m² spa, 6,000 m² of which is outdoors, a beach club, an excursion centre, as well as many other glamorous amenities.
A total of 460 residential units have been built, ranging in size from 50 to 400 m².
To offer visitors to the village a wide range of choices, 40 different commercial activities have been planned, including nine restaurants and five bars.
The residential units have been built to Class A standards to meet the highest standards of comfort and environmental friendliness. They are all equipped with fibre optic systems and powered by renewable energy.
In accordance with the client's and designers' wishes, the windows and doors have been designed to ensure maximum thermal and acoustic comfort, which is why the following glazing has been installed:
Pilkington Suncool Optiphon™ Clear 10.8 – 15 mm gas-filled cavity – Pilkington Optiphon™ 6.5
or
Pilkington Suncool Optiphon™ Clear 10.8 – 15 mm gas-filled cavity – Pilkington Optiphon™ 8.5.
These types of glazing offer excellent thermal insulation performance with a Ug value of 1.0 W/m²K, a solar factor of 39% and excellent light transmission of 62%. The acoustic comfort of the Pilkington Optiphon™ glass installed here provides acoustic comfort and noise reduction of 45 dB (-1; -5). Finally, these glazing units comply with Class 1B1 of the EN 12600 standard.
Pilkington Optiphon™ products are laminated glass specialising in acoustic control. Despite having the same absorption power, they are thinner and lighter than other types of glass. This means they can be installed on lighter frames and leave more space for the glazed surface. They are laminated safety glass, and all thicknesses are certified 1B1 (EN 12600). This gives designers the freedom to create modern and original environments that are also economical and easy to maintain.
This type of glass has been combined with Pilkington Suncool™ high-performance solar control glass, which provides high solar control and thermal insulation properties. This maintains an optimal internal temperature during the summer and the colder months, thus saving on the building's cooling and heating costs.
Homes can therefore achieve extraordinary levels of comfort in several respects, ensuring good internal light transmission, a temperate climate, excellent sound insulation and a high level of glass security.
