Opened in the heart of the Aosta Valley Alps, the Champoluc-Crest cable car represents the perfect combination of technology and integration with the mountain environment.
One of the project's most iconic architectural features is the lift station's glass roof, which was designed to provide transparency, brightness, and visual continuity with the surrounding Alpine landscape. NSG TEC™, a special glass with a conductive coating that can generate heat in a controlled manner with the aid of an electrical power supply, was chosen for this purpose. This technology prevents snow and ice from accumulating on the glass surface, ensuring maximum visibility and safety throughout the year.
Using this active glass has enabled a more streamlined and optimised roof design. Since the snow load can be considered virtually zero thanks to the constant heating action, a lower structural thickness can be used, reducing weight and costs without compromising safety.
The result is an elegant, lightweight, highly functional roof.
