The Squaire, Frankfurt am Main, Germany

The Project
This multifunctional building, designed by JSK architects, is also referred to as a ‘lying skyscraper’ due to its impressive length of 660 metres.

It is a building complex located at the transport hub between the motorway, airport railway station and airport. Offering around 200,000 square metres of usable space, the property is a multifaceted living and working environment under a glass-roofed atrium.

This 'New Work City' includes several hotels, numerous restaurants and shops, medical facilities, fitness and recreation centres, exclusive office space, and a business and conference centre that meets the highest international standards.

The completely transparent, futuristic façade and interior design is complemented by the consistent use of fire-resistant glazing wherever a visually elegant separation of fire and smoke compartments was required.

Door and partition wall systems leading to escape corridors, stairwells and lift lobbies were fitted with large-area Pilkington Pyrostop® glazing for fire resistance classes EI 30 and EI 90.

This was installed in elegant steel profile systems with narrow face widths. The door systems are mostly combined with automated fitting technology and are primarily equipped with integrated electronic access control systems in the office and hotel areas.
