MIN Nantes Métropole, Rezé, France

The Project
Opened in April 2019, MIN Nantes Métropole is the second largest wholesale centre in France after Rungis. It covers an area of 20 hectares and comprises six business sectors dedicated to food, equipment, and related services. The buildings were constructed to insulation and lighting standards designed to minimise energy consumption.

A clever application of Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning glass is among the systems and materials contributing to this, allowing natural light to filter into the buildings without compromising the transparency of the glazing or requiring costly cleaning operations.

The 428 skydomes at MIN Nantes, covering a total area of over 5,000 m², have been fitted with 64.2 laminated glazing featuring the Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning coating on the outer surface. This has enabled the operating company to save time, cleaning products and water usually required for cleaning and maintenance.
