Michigan State Credit Union

The Project

The Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSFCU) is setting the standard for green construction and sustainable design.  The Gold LEED Certified building is the permanent location for the company headquarters.  Operating for over 73 years, MSUFCU is the largest university-based credit union in the world.

MSUFCU in collaboration with Architects, Daniels and Zermack Associates, Inc. in Ann Arbor, MI, have integrated green design and construction materials for an energy efficient, sustainable project.

The four story building showcases 44,000 square-feet of Pilkington Eclipse Advantage™  EverGreen, which was selected for the project because it provides a perfect blend of visible daylight along with low solar heat gain.  Nearly 80 percent of the building takes advantage of natural day lighting to reduce the need for artificial lighting.

MSFCU wanted a building that did not require the use of blinds.  Hanging blinds is an added expense and compromises the appearance of the building from the exterior.  Pilkington Eclipse Advantage™  EverGreen provides glare control which allows for this design option.
