The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is an iconic building displaying some of the most important pieces of art in San Francisco. It was designed by architectural firm, Snøhetta, with the support of ARUP as a consultant.
Variations of combinations of Pilkington Optiwhite™ and Pilkington Energy Advantage™ were fabricated by Cristacurva and used for approximately half of the building. Within the construction, there were 11 different combinations of these glass types with up to 6 different lite thicknesses used. Some units were almost 240" in length.
Pilkington Optiwhite™ was used for the vision windows along the first floor. Additionally, 3 of the 4 exterior facades were covered with painted glass using 2 piles of Pilkington Optiwhite™ in 6mm. Many of the windows and skylights facing the exterior of the 11 story building were made up of Pilkington Energy Advantage™ or Pilkington Optiwhite™.
