University of Applied Sciences Campus, Lahti, Finland

The Project
The new Campus of the Lahti University of Applied Sciences designed by Seppo Markku from H&M Arkkitehdit provides modern and comfortable learning environment. It is located in a renovated historical industrial environment that belongs to ISKU Center.

The LAMK’s campus is a digital, versatile and living learning and work environment. It has one big and two smaller auditoriums that can be combined, a lot of possibilities to offer exhibition space, many co-working facilities and restaurant. The complex provides a unique and inspiring setting for learning and working.

Triple glazed units manufactured by Lasiluoto Oy used for the building façade comprise of high performance solar control and self-cleaning glass Pilkington Activ Suncool™ 70/35 combined with Pilkington Optifloat™ Clear and Pilkington Optitherm™ S1N low-emissivity glass. Such combination provides high light transmittance, very good solar control, low Ug-value of 0.5 W/m²K and at the same time offers self-cleaning properties. To provide safety in the lower level of the façade both external panes of IGUs have been made of laminated glass.

The performance of the glazing provides great input to sustainable and energy efficient development of entire ISKU Center.
